Air Fryer Fish & Chips

Skip the deep fryer and still get that crave-worthy crunch! My air fryer fish comes together in minutes and is perfect alongside a pile of hot, salty fries. Think classic fish & chips, but lighter and weeknight-friendly.

Duration

Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 10 minutes
Total: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • ½ cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 pound cod fillet, cut into strips
  • Cooking oil spray
  • Tartar sauce, for serving
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

1. Prep your dredging station.

  • Bowl 1: Mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Bowl 2: Beat the egg.
  • Bowl 3: Add panko breadcrumbs.

2. Coat the fish.

  • Pat cod strips dry with paper towels.
  • Dip each strip in the flour mix, then the egg, then the panko. Press lightly so crumbs stick.
  • Spray both sides with cooking oil.

3. Air fry to perfection.

  • Place fish in the air fryer basket.
  • Cook at 400°F for 10–12 minutes, turning halfway.
  • Check with a fork—fish should flake easily. If not, return for 1–2 more minutes.

4. Serve & enjoy.

  • Pair with fries, tartar sauce, and a squeeze of lemon.
