Air Fryer Boiled Eggs

Making “boiled” eggs in the air fryer is a simple, hands-off method that delivers consistent results without using a pot of boiling water. Whether you like your eggs soft, jammy, or fully cooked, this easy technique is perfect for breakfast, snacks, and meal prep.

Preheat the Air Fryer

Preheat your air fryer to 270°F (130°C).
Some air fryer models may require 275°F (135°C), depending on temperature accuracy.

Add the Eggs

Place eggs directly into the air fryer basket.
Do not use foil or oil.
Arrange eggs in a single layer so air can circulate evenly around them.

Cook Time (Choose Your Doneness)

  • Soft-boiled (runny yolk): 9–10 minutes
  • Medium-boiled (slightly jammy yolk): 11–12 minutes
  • Hard-boiled (fully set yolk): 13–15 minutes

Cool the Eggs

Immediately transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice water for at least 5 minutes.
This stops the cooking process and makes peeling much easier.

Peel and Serve

Gently crack and peel the eggs. Season with salt and pepper or use them in your favorite recipes.

My Best Air Fryer Hard-Boiled Egg Tips

  • Adjust timing for your air fryer.
All air fryer makes and models vary in power and wattage, so cook times may need slight adjustments. I recommend testing a few timing options to find what works best for your machine, then sticking with that setting. The air fryer used for this recipe is 1700 watts.
  • Always use an ice bath.
While cooling isn’t strictly required, I highly recommend using an ice water bath. It immediately stops the eggs from overcooking and helps prevent gray or chalky yolks.
  • No basket? No problem.
If your air fryer doesn’t have a basket, use a grill rack or mesh rack instead. This still allows proper air circulation around the eggs.
  • Cook up to 12 eggs at once.
Air fryer hard-boiled eggs are perfect for meal prep. Once you’ve found the ideal cooking time for your air fryer, you can cook eggs in bulk. They’ll keep well in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Serving Ideas

I always keep hard-boiled eggs in the fridge because they’re such an easy way to add protein to just about anything. Here are some of my favorite ways to enjoy them:

  • On toast: Sliced over buttered toast or avocado toast with salt, pepper, and a little hot sauce
  • Egg salad: Rotate between classic egg salad, avocado egg salad, egg salad sandwiches, macaroni egg salad, or cottage cheese egg salad
  • Chopped into salads: Perfect for Cobb salad, Niçoise salad, or a simple garden salad
  • With hummus: Surprisingly delicious—dip sliced eggs straight into hummus
  • As a snack: Sprinkle with salt or everything bagel seasoning
  • On rice or grain bowls: Add sliced eggs with veggies and a drizzle of tahini dressing
  • In ramen or soups: Jammy eggs are ideal, but hard-boiled eggs work great in brothy soups
  • Deviled eggs: Try classic deviled eggs or avocado deviled eggs

With this method, you’ll have perfectly cooked air fryer boiled eggs in about 15 minutes, no boiling water required.
